The word says that the life is in the blood. Contained within the blood of Jesus, that he poured out upon the cross for mankind, is the very essence of life itself. Unless we have his blood applied to our lives, we are not free, we are not forgiven, we are not healed and we are heading for a lost eternity. This was the position of man before Christ came and went to Calvary.
Thank God then for the blood of Jesus!

Jn 6:53
"Unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you... he that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me and I in him..."

Jn 19:17
"And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha, where they crucified him…"

1. It took the shedding of Jesus blood upon the cross to set you free from the power of sin and death.
Where no blood is shed or applied, there is no forgiveness of sins. Christ came as the Lamb of God, without sin, to die upon the cross as a one time sacrifice so all mankind had the opportunity of redemption.

Rom 5:8
"For God shewed his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us…"

Redemption :  to pay off someone's debt, to rescue, to bring deliverance,  to make atonement for sin and to free from guilt.

Jesus Christ redeemed you from your sins, from the debt and bond of slavery that you were held under, by the shedding of his blood.
Basically he took your debt and paid it in full for you, took your punishment and your guilt and nailed it to his cross! His life went for your life, his blood washed you clean. from the filth of your sins and you were made a new man or woman and became acceptable to God.

Gal 3:13
"Christ hath redeemed us..."

Just like in the days where Israel kept the Passover just before they were freed from Egypt, and the angel of death was going through the land, it was when the blood of the lamb was applied to the door posts of the house, that the angel of death passed over and those inside the covering of the blood, were safe.
Even so you, as soon as Jesus blood came upon your life, the power of sin and death was broken over you... in an instant!

Heb 9:14
"How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your consciences from dead works to serve the living God..."
