"I would have fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!"
Ps 27:13
The moment a Christian starts to go under, is when they stop believing! You can't succeed unless you believe.
King David in this psalm knew the importance of holding fast to the goodness of God that was coming for him, even when his situations looked blackest. He believed that God was going to to take him through the trouble and out the other side back into the light.
Even in the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me. Who's all passed through the valley of the shadow? Well let me tell you the secret that David had learned, that God was faithful. It may seem hard in some way for you right now but don't focus on the hard focus on the goodness of God that's coming your way. David kept up a watch over his faith. You should do the same.
Your faith needs fed with the word of God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If you don't take the opportunity to get around faith filled, spirit empowered word of God, then your exposing your life to the stresses of the unbelieving world that surrounds you every day. Righteous Lot vexed or upset and tortured his own soul by the things he saw and heard and ended up spiritually and physically bankrupt. Put yourself into an environment where God is showing up.
Faith does not come by hearing the voice of the enemy or by looking at the storm. Faith gets quickened in our spirit by hearing what God has to say to us. By applying his promise over our lives and by allowing his spirit to inspire firm, sure footed standing upon Gods word, we conquer and overcome. Gods word is the rock of ages that remains when all else is shaking beneath. So plant yourself in an attitude of faith upon that rock and believe to see the goodness of God in this year ahead.
David called it the land of the living, well your alive (I think?) so believe and then you won't faint or go under in the trials of life. David knew whereof he spoke when talking about this matter. Hard experience had taught him to believe in Gods power in him and his word for his life, even when all hell was coming against him. Think of what would have happened if he'd been running towards old Goliath and the thought had entered his head of 'what if I miss?' imagine the kind of mess that would have made of his shot?
Some people ask me 'well how do you know that everything will work out ok?' Well my answer to that is what Jesus had to say about it all. "He that believes in Me is never going to be ashamed, let down or disappointed." You may be going through difficulties but everything is working together for the good of those that love the Lord and are called to his purpose.
The goodness of Gods coming to your life and you just need to hold on to that word and let his faith arise In your heart. Don't begin this year discouraged but look and see the abundance of provision and goodness coming your way and keep on believing. Everything's going to be alright.
